Sundar Pichai – New CEO of Google

Chennai born, Sundar Pichai has been named as the new CEO of restructured Google. He was previously positioned as the Product Chief of Google.

The news came in as Google unveiled a new corporate structure creating an umbrella company – Alphabet. The former Google CEO, Larry Page will head the parent company Alphabet.

The 43 year old did his graduation from IIT Kharagpur; holds an MS from Stanford University and obtained MBA from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He was also honoured as a Siebel Scholar and a Palmer Scholar at Wharton, which are awarded to the students with outstanding academic performance and qualities of leadership . Before joining Google, he worked at Applied Materials and McKinsey.

Sundar Pichai has been associated with Google since 2004 where he joined as the Vice President of Product Management. He led the teams responsible for the success of Google products such as Toolbar, Google Chrome, Chromebook and Android. According to the top executives of Google, Pichai has always known to be “one of the best person to work with”. Being smart, he was a quick learner too and worked hard for the success of the products. Most of the Google employees wanted to transfer to his team; such was his reputation. He was also rumored to be one of the contenders for Microsoft’s new CEO in 2014.
