Bahubali – lesser known facts about the movie

A magnanimous portrayal of ancient Kingdom of Mahishmati and the story revolving around it, is an epic fiction from the mind of director S.S. Rajamouli and its writer K.V. Vijayandra Prasad. It’s a movie which is large in every dimension. The movie is already out and its ruling the box office all around. As an Indian cinema lover we are so proud to witness a movie which is comparable to any Special effects Hollywood movie.

It took more than 3 years for  Bahubali: The Begining to complete, which is the first part of the movie and second part will release next year i.e. 2016. The abrupt ending of the movie with the scene where Kattapa saying he killed Amarendra Bahubali has created a turbulence in the mind of every Indian thinking why did he did so.

The movie is being loved by everyone including the critics who just can’t stop praising about it. So we thought of covering the interesting factoids of the movie and we came across many which every Cinema lover should read.

  • It’s the only Indian movie to be get featured on BBC’s documentary on 100 years of Indian cinema even before its release.
  • Bahubali was made in Telugu and Tamil and later dubbed in Hindi, Malayalam, English, French and Japanese.
  • The budget of the movie is Rs. 250 crores, which makes it the most expensive movie made in the history of Indian Cinema.

  • It entered into Guinness Book of World Record when it displayed its largest poster ever (50,000 sq. feet) in Kochi.
  • It took around 1 year for pre-production work of the movie, highest for any Indian Movie and 1 year for Production and 1 year for post- production. In total it took 3 years for the movie to complete.

  • 17 VFX studios with around 800+ technicians used in the making plus the movie has been shot in 16:9 aspect ratio for bigger and better quality pictures, it was using Arri Alexa XT camera.
  • Bahubali and Jurassic World share the same VFX team, 90% of the movie has VFX shots and it cost Rs. 85 crores for Visual effects for the movie.

  • It took 109 days to shoot the waterfall scene, the team shot the sequence at 3 different waterfall locations to give it that awesome effect.

  • Prabhas and Rana Daggubati used to consume around 2000 – 4000 calories per day, which comprised of 6-8 meals with 40 egg whites daily to build the muscular body. {Gym equipment’s for Prabhas alone cost Rs 1.5 crore}
  • Baahubali’s trailer crossed 4.5 million views on YouTube in just 24 hours and around 1.5 million views on Facebook in a day.

  • A completely new language named “KILIKI” was invented for the Kalakeya tribe in the movie, which has 750 words and 40 grammar rules. The language has an eldritch resemblance with language used in the TV series Game of Thrones known as Dothraki.

  • The movie will have its own museum being made at the director’s behest; will house all the weapons, armours and costumes that the actors sport in the film.
  • Actor Prabhas didn’t take any project in hand for 3 years and also postponed his marriage for the movie.
  • Director S S Rajamouli haven’t given any flop movie in his entire career.

45 feet high set for bahubali

  • 24 feet high sets are created for Indian movies but for this movie 45 feet high sets were created.
  • Bahubali’s premiere shows ticket prices were soaring high and the prices were said to be ranging between Rs. 4000 to Rs. 8000.

  • IMDB ranked Bahubali at 9.4/10 whereas, the Hollywood movie “300” to which people were comparing Bahubali just received 7.8 IMDB ratings at that time.
  • The wars scenes required all the soldiers to have weapons in their hands and pretend to attack the opposing forces. For the war scenes, over 20,000 weapons were designed and used in Bahubali.
  • A 125-foot-tall statue of Bhallaldeva (the role played by Rana) was made  by 200 sculptors and it weighed over 8,000 kg and 4 cranes were needed to erect the statue.. Rana gained 32 kg for  the movie and he had to change his food habits completely
  • As much as 110 acres of space in Ramoji Film City was used for putting  up the extravagant sets and most part of the film was shot there only.
  • Screen play writer of Bahubali & Bajrangi Bhaijaan are same i.e. K.V. Vijayandra Prasad ( S S Rajamouli is his son ).

The astonishing fact is that only the first part of the movie is out and it created a history, i can’t wait myself for the release of its second part coming in 2016. We hope that it outpaces the first one in every magnitude.
