Inderjeet Singh, a 27 year old left handed shot-putter from Bhiwani created history by becoming the 1st Indian ever to win a Gold Medal at the World University Games in Gwanju, South Korea.
He had committed a foul in his first attempt. But then, he covered a distance of 20.27 metres in the final throw which bagged him the Gold medal.
He has had a fantastic 2015 so far, bagging 5 gold medals so far in all the five international events he participated.
The Haryana shot-putter had recently won a gold at the Asian Athletics Grand Pix Series in Bangkok on 22 June. He had also won a gold at Asian Athletics Championships in Wuhan, Bangkok this year with a throw of 20.41 meter which is a new championship record.
He has already qualified for the Rio Olympics in 2016 and the country has high hopes from him.
Inderjeet Singh had lost his father when he was a child. But this didnt let him down. He came back strongly to become one of the best athlete the country has ever produced.
